Competency Standards        : Expressing meaning in short functional text and essay in the form of narrative the context of everyday life.
Basic Competency             : 1.1. Expressing meaning and rhetorical steps in the essay by using a variety of writtten language accurately, and fluently and acceptable in the form of a narrative.
A.    Learning Objectives
1.         Students can identify the structure of narrative text.
2.         Students can use the simple past of sentence in making a narrative.
3.         Students can produce text in the form of narrative.
B.     Indicator
1.      Students can identify the structure of narrative text.
2.      Students can use the simple past of sentence in making narrative.
3.      Students can produce text in the form of narrative.
C.    Learning Materials
o   Definition of Narrative
Narrative is a text focusing specific participants. Its social function is to tell stories or past events and entertain the readers.
o   A narrative text consists of the following structure:
1.      Orientation      : This part introduces characters and/ or sets the scene (when/where).
2.      Complication(s)           : In this part, the main character is faced to a problem.
3.      Resolution(s)   : This part tells how the problem is resolved for better or worse.
o   Language Features of Narrative:
1.      Focus on specific participants
2.      Use of temporal conjunctions and temporal circumstances
3.      Use of material (or action) processes
4.      Use of relational and mental processes
5.      Use of past tense. However, present tense can also be used within dialogues.

The Story of the Ant and the Dove
Linguistic feature
Orientatin
One hot day, an ant was searching for some water. After walking around for some time, she came to a spring.
An ant => Specific participant
One hot day => circumstances of time
After => temporal conjunction
Complication (1)
To reach the spring she had to climb up a blade of grass. While making her way up, she slipped and fell into the water.

and => coordinate conjunction
Resolution (1)
She could have drowned if a dove up a nearby tree had not helped her. Seeing that the ant was in trouble, the dove quickly plucked a leaf and dropped it into the water near the struggling ant. The ant moved towards the leaf and climbed up there. Soon, it carried her safely to dry ground.

Moved => past tense

Complication (2)
Just as that time, a hunter nearby was throwing out his net towards the dove, hoping to trap it.
Was => linking verb
Resolution (2)
Guessing what he was about to do, the ant quickly bit him on the heel. Feeling the pain, the hunter dropped his net. Quickly, the dove flied away to safety.
Dropped => action verb

1.    Activities Introduction
a.      Teacher greets the students
b.      Teacher invites to pray before studying.
c.       Teacher checks student attendance.
d.      Teacher gives motivation/deliver learning objectives based situations in the classroom.
2.    Core Activities
a.      Presentation
-          Teacher asks "narrative text" to the students.
-          Teacher shares lesson material.
b.      Practice
-          Teacher sends several students to read material 'narrativet text' that has been given and the other students listen.
-          Teacher and students are asked responsibilities related material.
c.       Production
-          Teacher explains "how to write" narrative text.
-          Teacher asks the students to make an example of narrative text.
Make your own narrative.
Example:
A donkey was eating grass in a meadow when he saw a wolf coming towards him. Thinking quickly, he started to limp pretending he was hurt…… (Continue by yourself)
-    Teacher asks the students to collect the task.
3. Closing Event
- Teacher asks student's difficulties on the material that has been discussed.
- Teacher and students to make conclusion on the material that has been discussed.
- Teacher and students close with prayer.
